Downtime is the hidden profits killer.  Some downtime is expected and often necessary. But when it becomes un-expected and unnecessarily frequent the financial impact can be significant.

During my first four months as Head Coach IT (IT Director)  for a Twin Cities based, 50 million dollar tire retailer, I re-engineered core systems from single AT&T UNIX platform supporting all warehouse distribution, corporate finance and LAN activities to a multi-platform configuration consisting of redundant scalable Unix solution for core warehousing and inventory control functions coupled with Novell LAN server for backoffice services.

RESULTS:  Eliminated daily catastrophic system failures averaging 6 ½ hours weekly downtime.   Estimated Annual Savings $1.5 million.
